Mysterious
and surprising
Beernem is a rural municipality
with 14,500 inhabitants and covers a surface of 7.167ha.
The area is full of exciting places and diverse landscapes.
You can discover fields lined by typical alleys or the provincial
domain Bulskampveld and its castle surrounded by mysterious
forests. However, there is even more to be seen: the green
banks of the historical Canal Ghent-Bruges or Oedelem’s
‘mountain’ amidst picturesque fields and pastures.
There are innumerable possibilities
for walkers, bikers, equestrians and daytrippers in this
charming rural area. For adventurous people, there is a
mountain bike route, several water-sport facilities and
an exiting obstacle course. If you are more interested in
Beernem’s history, you can visit historic farms, impressive
castles hidden in the greenery and picturesque village centres.
After discovering our exciting village, you can have a drink
in one of the many cafés or have a (local) meal in
a cosy restaurant.
Visit Beernem, and you will
be pleasantly surprised.
The Bruges woodland and wetland
There are places, which seem to have that little extra something,
above the norm. The Bruges Ommeland is one of those regions,
which are best described in terms of triumphant superlatives.
Its special neighbours, the Flemish Coast and the world-famous
Bruges are but one of the reasons why the Bruges woodland
and wetland merits the hallmark of exclusivity.
